Besides the $20,000 grant, songCIRCLE projects will also benefit from the support of our publishing connections and talent agency (UIA Talent Agency), and from our policy of artists retaining ownership of their intellectual property so that they may move on from Sparks to have a lasting impact in the classical music world. Curators will lead projects that could include the commission of new poetry and music, feature older works in a new way, and will feature women artists. Resulting projects could be live or virtual, or a combination of both, and art song projects that include interdisciplinary elements will be encouraged.
Interested applicants will need to commit to being full partners and be willing to submit the following information:
A 500-word narrative that clearly outlines the project and how it will be achieved
A timeline
A plan for marketing the project and an understanding of the target audience
A list of community and artistic partners who have agreed to take part if the proposal is successful
A team of artists who have agreed to take part if the proposal is successful
A plan to fundraise for/contribute a minimum of 50% in matching funds
A clear budget that includes how each songCIRCLE project will use its funds including: equitable artist, curatorial & commissioning fees, venue costs, audio/video production, digital distribution, a reserve of 20% of the overall budget for administrative costs to Sparks & Wiry Cries.
